MÄNTYHARJU ART STATION AND KURKINIEMI AREA

The area of the old railway station in Mäntyharju has gained a new life in the last few years as a lively meeting place for local people and tourists, the Mäntyharju Art Station.

There is a cafe in summer (Makasiinin Puoti & Kahvila) and a Linkkumylly equipment rental service where you can rent canoes, kayaks and SUP boards if you want to paddle next to the station on Lake Pyhävesi. Children can also take part in a canoeing trip as long as the child is accompanied by an adult and the child can swim well.

There are also a variety of changing exhibitions and pop-up activities in the area.

The station is a 100-year-old building, and it is a great place for a family excursion and photography trip. You can combine your visit with the nearby Kurkiniemi beach. See for more information on nearby restaurants and destinations on the Restaurants in Mäntyharju page.

Near the station is the Kurkiniemi area, where you can easily reach Mäntyharju’s outdoor trails. For example, the so-colled beach route’s (Rantareitti) starting point is in Kurkiniemi. A beach route is also suitable for children and for the disabled. In winter, the ski trails on the ice start from the Kurkiniemi (Asematie 11, 52700 Mäntyharju) and a skating trail starts from the Kurkiniemi beach.
