IDYLLIC DAY TRIP DESTINATION FOR FAMILIES

Historical tour in idyllic log floating milieu

Miekankoski rapids, summer cafe and Museum of Log Floating

Miekankoski is a beautiful area with rapids and a fishing area on the west side of Mäntyharju.

There is a Museum of Log Floating, a blacksmith’s workplace, a handicraft shop selling local products, a memorial to the Treaty of Turku and a summer cafe. You can visit the museum for free.

The beautiful area with its buildings is ideal for a day trip, especially for those who like photography. The area can also be photographed outside the summer season.

Kayaks and canoes can be rented from Miekankoski to make a trip to nearby lakes. There is also a canoeing route to Repovesi National Park through Miekankoski.

For example, whitefish and trout can be caught in the river, and the fishing methods allowed in the rapids include casting and fly fishing. Fishing permits can be bought at the cafe.

Pictures of the attraction can be found on Instagram with the keyword #miekankoski.
