Collect memories into a glass jar

Children in kindergarten in Finland are excited about this idea! For each child, give a glass jar of approximately 10 cm in size. Take the jars for the excursion into the woods. The child can collect things from the forest, such as rocks, pine cones, etc., into the jar and make their own setting. The can can be taken home as a memory.

Find constellations from the night sky

The Korpijärvi area is one of the few areas in Southern Finland that has almost no light pollution. The nearest big cities are dozens of kilometers away from us.

This is why our Lake District is an excellent excursion destination especially for those who are interested in astronomy or starry photography. And you don’t even have to go to the woods for the excursion, but you can watch the stars on a dark night and night in the yard of your holiday home.

There is no need for any equipment for starry sighting with children – you only need a map of the star sky that you can download online. However, the use of binoculars makes it easier to monitor the sky.

If chilren don’t have enough patience to search for stars with the naked eye, it is advisable to install one of the star apps available free of charge from the app stores, which makes it easier to see through the screen of the phone what the stars appear in the sky. This is usually a more pleasant way for kids to study constellations when the application shows directly what stars appear in the sky.
