Cultural attractions in Mäntyharju are worth a visit!
The most important cultural events in Mäntyharju on the summer of 2019 are the art events of the Art Center Salmela, the events of the new art station in the center of Mäntyharju and the film festival “Ilokuvafestivaali”, which will be held in August.
Salmela and the art station are open all summer, but Mäntyharju has also other cultural events throughout the summer. Visit, for example, smaller art exhibitions and experience the Film Festival “Elokuvafestivaali” in August!
Events at Art Center Salmela
Close to the center of Mäntyharju, Art Center Salmela is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the summer of 2019.
This summer, the Art Center has an exhibition featuring works by more than 30 artists, and the iconic Finnish performers are responsible for the summer concerts.
The specialty of Salmela’s summer is the evening of the arts on Friday 2.8. Then you can meet artists in Salmela and take part in guided tours. The event is suitable for the whole family. Salmela is open from 08 June to 11 August 2019 every day from 11 am to 6 pm.

Visit also the Vuohijärvi Culture and Nature House. In the summer of 2019, there is an exhibition of paintings and works about Repovesi National Park.
The Vuohijärvi Nature and Culture House is open from 08 June to 11 August 2019 every day from 11 am to 6 pm.

Film festival ”Ilokuvafestivaali” 1.-4.8.2019
The Film Festival “Ilokuvafestivaali” is an absolute summer destination for every film. The festival in movie theater Kino will feature for example Finnish documentary films and international films.
After the screenings, there is evening entertainment as well as evening concerts, which include this year for example composer Kaj Chydenius and actress Martti Suosalo.
Tickets need not be booked in advance and can be purchased from the cinema lobby before the show. If you wish, you can buy tickets in advance via online-shop.

Art tour in Mäntyharju
This summer, art has also been embedded in parks and streets in Mäntyharju! In the Mäntyharju Art Station and its surrounding area, works by various artists can be seen throughout the summer. In the art station on the shore of Asemanlampi you can see installations, sculptures, paintings, comics and sound. Check out the Instagram site of the Art Station!

Visit Mäntyharju Marketplace on Wednesdays! Mäntyharju Municipal Artist’s Mari Liimatainen arranges Pop Up Art Workshop 3.7., 10.7., 17.7. and 24.7. 10 am to 1 pm. There is free access to the event.
